The core instrument in the HOM-C is the MacNew Heart Disease Quality of Life Questionnaire. It was developed to measure the impact of heart disease on the quality of life of an individual patient. MacNew is the most used instrument in research and clinical practice for assessing health related quality of life (HRQL) in heart disease. Furthermore the quality of MacNew in terms of its psychometric properties is very well documented and scientifically proven, making it a highly valid, reliable and sensitive instrument for measuring HRQL in heart disease.

The HOM-C is a secure web-based application that can be accessed over the internet or installed locally and accessed over an intranet. Patients take the MacNew questionnaire independently in less than 10 minutes and then immediately receive a MacNew Assessment covering emotional, physical, and social domains and overall health related quality of life.
