Why measure QoL in Heart Disease
Promoting health in patients with heart disease (angina, arrythmia, heart failure) and restoring health after a heart attack are the goals of the health care industry, including pharmaceutical industries, managed healthcare organisations and health care professionals. This view is reflected in the published mission statements of many health care organizations and professional societies.

The success of health care can be defined in terms of the ability to improve functional status, emotional well-being and the ability to participate in ones social life (according to the WHO-definition of Health).
Only patients can tell us about their subjective health and quality of life.
The MacNew™is designed to quantify individual health related quality of life in a highly standardized way and considers all three aspects of health:
  • physical functioning: What are you able to do with your heart problem?
  • emotional well-being: How do you feel with your heart problem?
  • social aspects: How is your social life affected by your heart problem?
